The big question for Sunday night is not whether Daniel Day-Lewis will win Best Actor (he will) but whether you should go out or stay in to watch the award show.
If you want to go out but haven’t been invited to any Academy Award-watching parties (join the club), you are always welcome at the third annual Oscar Night Party, hosted by the St. Louis Film Critics Association and Landmark Theatres.
The free event begins at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Tivoli Theatre in University City. The live ABC Oscars telecast will be shown in the 450-seat main auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Seating is not reserved.
Although admission is free, SLFCA and Landmark Theatres encourage people to bring nonperishable food and canned good donations, as a collection for Operation Food Search.
Enjoy the Oscars telecast on the Tivoli’s big screen and win plenty of movie-related prizes. Concessions will be available for purchase.
If you don’t feel like going out you’re welcome to join me, Eric, Luisa, Julie and whoever else shows up for the third annual RROY REPORT Oscar Live Chat on Facebook. We’ll begin promptly at 7 p.m. and go until the battery runs out on my laptop, probably in the middle of the writing awards. There will be no prizes.
Check back Saturday for our annual run-down of nominees in the only Academy Award category that matters: Best Short Subject Animation.
